Tom is the founder of LaTerra Homes, an Annapolis, Maryland based company formed in 2018 as a residential developer of apartment and for sale communities in the Mid- Atlantic region. Prior to forming LaTerra, Tom was a Partner at the Bozzuto Group for nearly 18 years, joining Bozzuto in 2001 as a Partner and President of Bozzuto Development Company. At Bozzuto, Tom oversaw Bozzuto’s apartment development operations, covering the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions. Under Tom’s leadership, Bozzuto Development Company was recognized by the NAHB as the Development Firm of the Year for 2003. In 2006, Tom’s responsibilities expanded to include Bozzuto’s home building division. Named as President of Bozzuto Homes, Inc., Tom presided over all for-sale and rental development activities for the Company until 2008, when he focused exclusively on expanding operations of Bozzuto Homes, and continued to serve in that capacity until 2018 when he formed LaTerra. Tom has extensive experience in a variety of development projects, both rental and for-sale, including mixed use urban high-rise properties, neo-traditional suburban communities, affordable housing, senior living residences, and condominium development.
Tom began his career in New York at IBM’s Real Estate and Construction Division, with responsibility for developing IBM’s corporate office campus locations in New York and Connecticut. Prior to joining Bozzuto, Tom was a Senior Vice President with Summit Properties, Inc., a publicly traded apartment real estate investment trust, where he ran the Company’s Mid–Atlantic operations from 1995 to 2001.
A registered architect, Tom is a graduate of the University of Illinois and has a Masters in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in New York. He also attended the French National Architecture Academy in Versailles.
Tom has served on a variety of boards, including serving as the President of the Maryland Builders Industry Association (MBIA) representing the building industry for the State of Maryland. Tom is a previous member of the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation Board of Directors, the Howard County Conservancy Board, the Bethesda Cultural Alliance, and currently serves on the Home Builders Care Foundation, a non-profit with focus on shelter related construction needs
